How can they cheap out on these, original would not hold onto cable and then broke when having to slide on for 100th time and $5 is what you want for that? Crazy

What I think
They work and I ordered extras, but they should grip more tightly. I glue them into place.

A must have if you use your Etymotic ER series IEMs if you're active
I have recently been reacquainted with Etymotics ER series IEMs. When they became available at 50% off, I could not resist so I purchased a couple. Now I have total of 4x ER series; 2 ER4XR, 1 ER2XR, and 1 ER2SE. So if they become discontinued at some point in the future, I will have spares to keep enjoying them. Now for the shirt clip. I am very active and I do a lot of of road cycling and running. I find that these shirt clips are invaluable to tuck away those excess cables while exercising. I use a DAP called Cowon iAudio 9+ that has mostly hi res songs and audio files that I enjoy. I have devised an arm band that the DAP mounts onto it, and the Etymotics ER4XR connects to it and cable is completely hidden. This shirt clip is godsend. It's as good of a quality as the ones that Bose uses for their Soundsport line. I also have secured them by wrapping self sealing rubberized tape made by 3M. It will never come off the Ety's. I bought spares in case the one that came with the IEM gets lost or broken. Everything Etymotics does I am really impressed. Great products by great people!

Great idea. Falls off!
Nice idea, but the thing falls off the headphones VERY easily and can get lost.
I've replaced it twice.
After losing yet another, I switched to a small binder clip. Ugly, but it works.
The design seems like poorly conceived an afterthought.
For $300 headphones, it's not acceptable.
