Solid Replacement Filter for Musicians Earplugs High-Fidelity Hearing Protection replacement filters

Solid buttons are available for use with Musicians Earplugs. Some earmold labs offer a solid molded button, while others seal the diaphragm of a standard button with epoxy. When the sound channel of the earmold is plugged using a solid or sealed button, the total attenuation is dependent on the button plus the earmold seal. Etymotic’s sealed-diaphragm button provides approximately 30 dB attenuation (5 dB more than the ER-25) based on measures performed at E-A-R Cal Laboratories, Indianapolis, IN, using the ANSI standard Real Ear Attenuation at Threshold (REAT) method. A solid earmold provides greater attenuation than a Musicians Earplug with a sealed or solid button in the sound channel.

Great for the flight line

My work has me traveling near a taxiway and flight line, ear protection is required. These work great for that application. I don’t need to double up with ear muffs unless I’m actually next to a plane firing up its engines.

Replace your old and worn plugs

After 15 years of using the same plugs, the plastic eventually cracked and forced me to get new ones. The new ones are night and day improved. I hadn't realized how much high frequency sound was being blocked with my old ones.

Good attenuation but insert falls out

Solid plug inserts are great for sleep (e.g., on a plane) but the left insert falls out. I should have ordered two pairs because sooner or later I will not be able to find an insert.
